About Andy Rachleff

From 1995 until 2004 Andy was a co-founder and General Partner of Benchmark Capital. Upon his retirement from Benchmark, Andy joined the faculty of the Stanford Graduate School of Business to teach a variety of courses on technology entrepreneurship. In 2011 he co-founded Wealthfront Inc. where he now serves as President & CEO. Prior to his 10 years at Benchmark Capital, Andy spent 10 years with Merrill, Pickard, Anderson & Eyre. 

Andy serves as a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, a member of its executive committee and Chairman of its endowment investment committee. He also sits on the board of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation with whom he and his wife partnered to provide funding for early-career investigators to conduct high risk/high reward research to significantly impact the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. 

Andy earned his BS from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 1984.

All Wharton Alumni are welcome to join this conversation with TalkShop’s  June Bower about creating your company’s powerful, persuasive messaging. This session will start with a competitive messaging framework that will help companies to attract prospective clients, demonstrate why its product or solution is better, and how to close. Case studies, from selected registered attendees, will demonstrate how to bring this process to life.

About June Bower

June started her career in the early days of Apple where she worked with Steve Jobs and the rest of the 300 person company. From Apple she assumed VP and CMO roles at companies such as Adobe, Alcatel, Cisco, Webex and others, and has worked at Lightspeed Ventures where she was the marketing partner, helping portfolio companies with their marketing efforts. Today, June is the Talker-in-Chief at TalkShop, although she considers herself more of a listener. At TalkShop, June works with start-ups at all stages and enables teams to use marketing to effectively grow their business.

Storytelling with Om Malik — March 25, 2020

Join WAFFA for an evening of storytelling with Om Malik, Partner of True Ventures, journalist, and founder of GigaOm. 

As a journalist, a founder of GigaOm and a current Partner at True Ventures, Om understands all sides of storytelling and will share what makes a story interesting to the audience and valuable for the growth of a startup. We will explore topics including how to develop your story, how to create a true connection with journalists, and how to develop an impactful narrative over the lifetime of a company.

About Om Malik

Journalist Om Malik founded technology blog Gigaom in 2001. With seed funding from True Ventures, he turned the one-man blog into a media company and research firm. Not long thereafter, Om became a venture partner at True Ventures. In 2014, he graduated to partner at True where he continues to invest in promising networking and internet infrastructure technologies.

Om regularly writes for The New Yorker and provides commentary on tech trends to broadcast channels including Bloomberg West, NPR, and BBC television and radio. Om started writing about tech in the early 1990s at Quick Nikkei News before joining the founding team at Forbes.com. After a short stint at H&Q Asia Pacific as an investment manager, he then returned to the media world as a senior writer for Red Herring and later at Business 2.0.

He published his first book, Broadbandits: Inside the $750 Billion Telecom Heist, in 2003. Born and raised in New Delhi, he is now happily situated in Northern California. He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Stephen’s College where he graduated with honors. His grandfather once told him, “Do not bank money. Bank people.” This advice remains core to Om as he considers new opportunities.
